Feelings- the Real Villian?

‘I really do hate feelings.’

Well, I never thought I would say something like that but I just realised that it was true for me as well. The following explains why you should hate them, too.

One of my only friends is a big-time pessimist, thus staying near her for long drives me- anyone, for that matter- nuts. When the first semester was about to end at Sahyadri, she says to me, ‘Dude, I seriously hate feelings. They’re so annoying. I mean, what’s so great about the term ending or beginning? I hate these end-of-term vibes everyone’s giving off.’

At that time, I gave her an incredulous look. Seriously, who didn’t like going back home? And feelings? Aren’t they exactly what make us human? What’s the point in living without them? We might as well be computers without them.

But now, when the Diwali vacations have come to an end and I must leave home and internet for Sahyadri, I don’t think I’ve hated anything as much as feelings. I wish I was some cold-hearted person instead of this sensitive one I am.

Feelings... They’re so unnecessary. It makes humans so extra and overdramatic about everything. I’m sorry if I offend anyone while saying this, but humans would be better off without feelings.

Actually, it’s our fault that these feelings even exist. We think that we’re happy, or sad, or in love, or guilty, or offended, or unsatisfied. We could plainly just accept everything that's happening if these feeling didn’t exist and wouldn’t that make everything so much better?

I don’t know really, but I just don’t like these feelings anymore. I don’t want to acknowledge them anymore even if they continue to annoy me with their abundance. They are unavoidable, after all.

The heartbreaks, the butterflies, the regrets, the great lumps in your throat. Oh, man, without them life would hardly be the roller coaster it is. In fact, if we were to personify the situation, feelings would be the cruel villain trying to frame the innocent victim- life.

I guess, that pretty much sums up my hatred for feelings?

Oh wait, hatred is but a feeling, too..

DAMN.
