Social Media-is it a blessing?
My Thoughts
Social media is a very expedient and obligatory medium for communication nowadays, but have we ever thought that is it a blessing to our world or just the opposite? Well, I have.
Social media is something without which you, your parents and even your parents’ parents might not be able to persist a day in this world. It is very commonly seen that one is wishing his father or mother birthday on social media first then wishing in person might seem a second thought only. Our world has changed in many ways since social media was brought into existence and I am beholden that it exists because otherwise I won’t be writing this blog, but is it really a godsend?
Social media has changed us all into a different person overnight, a soul who is continuously trying to beat the others in the game of show off. It has deleterious effects on the person’s self-worth, for he is comparing his life with that of the others. And of course to tell his friend that he is richer than him he won’t go up to him and tell him that, he will probably try to show off; which will lead to a complete money waste. But what if he does not have enough money to show off? He will probably get depressed. It has had many bad effects on the users who receive critics online and feel dejected.
Social media has a positive side also though. It might encourage some people to start doing something or make something their ambition maybe, which might actually benefit them and encourage them to do more. It even helps people improve and let themselves know that they always have more to look forward in life. Sometimes, social media might be the reason one is doing something in life. It is a mode to explore and form friendships online. It is also a convenient mode to increasing the audience on blogs and vlogs which may help them in achieving success.
Social media is a blessing to the world but it has its negative effects also, which makes it hard for me to decide whether it is a boon or a bane. But after considering the good and bad points about social media, I would sum up that social media is more over a boon than a bane.
