My Youth Icon- J.K Rowling

MY YOUTH ICON-

Everyone has a goal in their lives and this goal is always supported by a fondness or an icon. I too  have a youth icon that is – J.K Rowling, best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. Her books have particularly gained worldwide attention and have won several awards other than being a bestselling. The books have been the basis for a series of films which has become one of the most grossing ones. In simple words her books are awe-inspiring.

Joanne Rowling was born in Yate, Gloucestershire. She was working as a researcher and for Amnesty International when she apprehended the idea for the Harry Potter series. It is a really eerie thing that this idea for a story of a young boy who was attending a wizardry school popped into her mind while she was on a delayed train trip. In the following time after that, she saw the death of her mother which affected her writing a lot. She was suffering from poverty until she finished the first novel in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

J.K Rowling also known as Robert Galbraith has lived a rags to riches life which makes her my fa
vorite, even after suffering from so much she did not let it imitate in her novel series. Joanne Rowling was named the ‘’most influential woman in Britain’’ in October 2010. She has been supporting charities like Comic Relief. She has described Jane Austen as her favorite author and Jessica Mitford as her most persuasive writer.

Now, the question is why do I want to become like her? There are many more writers, if only I want to become a writer. The answer is as follows; she agonized so much and lived a life full of adversities but still managed to become an overwhelming writer for the readers. Joanne Kathleen Rowling is now the president of the charity known as Gingerbread. After becoming a multimillionaire also she did not change her compassionate and generous attitude of helping others especially children who are suffering, and that is why she wrote a book of children’s stories to aid One Parent Families. This human kindness has inspired me a lot, making me venerate her as my youth icon. One of her quotes is ''If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.''

I myself would like not only a well-to-do author but also a tenderhearted, munificent and painstaking person like J.K Rowling.
