Homework- Should it be Banned?

My Thoughts-

Homework can be understood as an assignment given to the students by the teachers which is to be completed at home and not in the school. In the simple words for the students it is a way of piling up more in their pressure. And for teachers it is another excuse to reprimand the children or tell the students to repeat something. In my opinion the reply to this question- should homework be banned is yes and no, which means I am for and against the motion. Here are the reasons-

WHY FOR? As a student I know what the circumstance of a student is while he is completing the homework. Teachers should have pity towards us after all the exams we have to pass to get accomplishment and above all of this they still expect us to do homework? It is kind of frustrating when we have to complete so much of homework, which they actually cannot do for they don’t remember the philosophies at all or the time is not adequate. This has happened with me also when I comprehend that tomorrow’s Monday and I haven’t completed my homework yet!! I have to complete it during the night when my brother and rest of the family is having sweet dreams. It also has some scientific disadvantages. Students find completing their homework stressful, mind-numbing and fatiguing according to the studies (and the reality).Teachers overlook the length of the assignments they give, setting an impractical deadline which puts the child in much more stress. Teachers sometimes give home works in which there are problems that are either not elucidated in the class or not of their level at all. So this makes the children lukewarm about studies. So it can be said that the homework may distract the students from their studies a lot and also befuddle them.

WHY AGAINST? Even though homework can be maddening and all- it has its benefits too. First that the homework helps the child realize what he knows and what he does not, which helps him to corroborate the vague concepts. Second, homework enables the child to work self-reliantly and coming to know about other possessions on his own, therefore homework develops the sense of accountability. Also homework makes the concept permanent in the minds of students. Homework ensures that the students keep a practice of the schoolwork they are doing and thereby helping them in revision too.

Thus, while homework can cause trauma for students, it can also help them enrich the understandings of their concepts. So homework can be thought of as a thing with two faces- one full of advantages and the other of disadvantages. I honestly feel (as a student) that either homework should be banned or the teachers shouldn’t give too much of homework. And if this happens the students may be a lot cheerier than you can usually find them.
