The Unanticipated Escapade

A STORY;

This is the story of a girl who travelled through time. It all starts on a very cold and dreary Friday evening when snow was making its way through the dull sky. Jane sat beside her snow covered window thinking about literally nothing. She was astute in learning about the past, because the people back then were so hard-working and ascetic. She used to say -even after facing so much of adversity and lack of resources if they could discover fire so if they had access to these facilities imagine what all they could to do!

At dinner time Jane’s father, who was an archaeologist, told them that they had excavated a very precious and elusive time machine buried under the ground and as he was going somewhere out of place it will be kept at their house’s garage. After dinner when Jane was in her bed and was just about to fall asleep a mind blowing idea almost took all her sleep away. Her idea was to use the time machine to   explore the past.

The next morning when her father had gone, and her mother was busy in the kitchen she went into the garage, she looked for the machine everywhere but she was unsuccessful, after almost an hour’s search she gave up and was about to go when she tripped over a piece of wood and accidentally pressed the most different looking brick and what she saw almost made her scream! But she had to keep it in, what she saw was a room in which there was the time machine that her father had excavated, she walked into the room.

Jane’s hands were shivering not only because of the cold but also because of astonishment and fear, she slowly observed the structure of the machine and stepped into it. Jane wanted to go back in the time and explore about the way the people lived. She suddenly noticed an old and rusty button and thinking that it won’t work she pressed it and to her surprise the old thing was still working! What should’ve she done in such a case, the machine started shaking and with a very strong jerk it disappeared with Jane in it.

Jane couldn’t believe this was happening to her, she was about to faint when the time machine reached somewhere in the jungles. Jane was very agitated and took small and silent steps. Suddenly, some people with clothes made up of leaves appeared and they couldn’t help to stop by and glare or rather stare at Jane and her clothes. They said something she could not understand, but then they signaled her to follow them through actions. Jane thought for a moment and then went with them. They turned out to be very affectionate, so she decided to stay and see how they live.

She learned how they build their houses if they don’t find caves to stay, how they hunt animals and yes, how they worked with their tools at home. She had a fun time playing with the children. But after some time maybe after a day or two she had to leave. Jane moved towards the jungle where the time machine had appeared, and after bidding a good-bye she left. Jane pressed the same button she had before and again the time machine shook and after a jerk it left.

Jane couldn’t believe she really had travelled through time! She thought what would she say when her mother asks  her where she had been, but she didn’t have to worry as the time hadn’t passed there, it was still Saturday when she had left the house, she was amazed but went back upstairs. It was the best day of Jane’s life and had become the most adorable one.
